Hello and welcome to Graceful Editing! My name is Alyssa Short.
If you’ve ever accidentally left out punctuation, used the wrong word, or forgotten to capitalize, you’re in the right place. We all make writing mistakes, and that’s why everyone needs a proofreader (and copy editor). We all need someone who knows what they’re doing to look over our written work and ensure it’s error-free and understandable. That’s how I can help you!
When I was a young teen, I had the privilege of teaching writing, grammar, and spelling to my siblings in our homeschool while simultaneously learning myself. Administering lessons and grading papers really cemented what I was learning, and in combination with my God-given problem-finding skills, made it easy for me to locate and correct errors. It was there that my interest in proofreading and editing began.
In college, my knowledge (and the Lord of course) really helped me excel in my writing and grammar courses, continuing to receive straight As. Then in June of 2023, I completed Proofread Anywhere’s General Proofreading: Theory & Practice course and passed the final exam, becoming a certified proofreader. One month later, I finished my first professional proofreading project.
I love sharing what I know and using my experience and skills to help others. And that is my goal here at Graceful Editing: to help you communicate clearly, beautifully, and effectively.
